Big Almaty Lake is nestled at an altitude of 2510 meters (8235 ft) in the Ile Alatau Mountains that stretch along the southeastern border of Kazakhstan. Big Almaty Lake was formed by an earthquake over 2,000 years ago. Water filled the newly formed crevice and created one of the world’s most picturesque lakes.
This beautiful lake is located 70 km from Almaty and among a dense forest at an altitude of 1800 meters in the Issyk Gorge of Alatau. Issyk Lake is already 10,000 years old. The origin of the lake is associated with a mountain landslide that created a natural dam with a height of 300 m.

The Tamgaly (or sometimes also called Tanbaly) “open-air” gallery, named after a Tamgaly river in the southeast part of Chu-Ili Mountains, is located 170km far from Almaty. The complex consists of more than 5.000 petroglyphs (rock carvings) dating from the second half of the second millennium BC to the beginning of the 20th century. The closest settlement is Karabastau village.
Sokol STC Race Track is a large-scale project combining a complex of unique race tracks and entertainment. The commercial zone is open to all visitors of the race track. There are located the hotel, feeding centers, portable toilets, mini golf, paintball, as well as a vehicles museum. There is a camping zone for outdoor activities in the complex.
At 30 km from Almaty has a unique place called Ush-Konyr. This place is open since 1980 for hang gliders and still attracts a lot of pilots and tourists from around the world. The flight on a paraglide will be in tandem with an instructor.

The Chilik River is the largest river in the Trans-Ili Alatau. The Bartogay reservoir was created on the river . This rafting on the Chilik River has a difficulty of two out of four.
